Hi Folks,
It has taken some time but we finally have available sound recordings from the roundtable on the future of archives in Canada, What We Have Lost: What We Stand to Lose that was hosted on the 16th of January.
The recordings are available at www.johndlund.ca/roundtable.html. How the recordings play is dependent on your web browser and media software on your computer. I find that google chrome plays more promptly than internet explorer.
If you have any questions please contact us at aaoeast@gmail.com
Please don't miss our post below about our Spring Social on March 22nd.

Join Us For A Spring Social and Story to Tell
Hello AAO
East/Est Chapter members,
In
celebration of the arrival of spring the AAO East/Est would like to invite you
out for food, drink and the telling of tales.
What tales might you ask? We are
opening an invitation to anyone who wishes to relay a story or two about a
recent acquisition, a gem within your holdings or an incidental note that
sparked your imagination.
If you have
an archival tale to tell, great or small, please rsvp at aaoeast@gmail.com by
March 19th. For those wishing to lend an
ear to the evening’s festivities or simply share a drink with friends no rsvp
is necessary.
If you are a
college, university student or new professional come join us, network and learn
about the archives field.
Where: Royal
Oak, 221 Echo Drive on the canal,
second floor room.
When:
Friday, March 22nd, 6:00pm
Sincerely,
John D.

More Cuts at LAC
Hi Everyone,
My next post was going to be some photos from Heritage Day and I will get to those but the further cuts that have been announced for LAC is quite troubling. With regards to LAC please see John Reid's post at http://anglo-celtic-connections.blogspot.ca/2013/02/drastic-cut-at-library-and-archives.html.
The rebranding exercise for CMC is not immune to job losses as restructuring occurs. Recently 5 staff members have been provided notice that their contracts will not be renewed. Though the museums were for the most part spared in 2012 this may not be the case in 2013.
